    I used Jenny Wu to buy 64 EVE LF280K cells and four Apexium JK-Inverter-BMS DIY case. everything was fine until I had one of the BMS not work out of the box. The after sale support has been abysmal. JK is not replacing the bad BMS and neither is Docan or Jenny Wu. She is also ignoring all my emails. A replacement will cost me $220 from Docan Texas warehouse. I spent $435 per DIY Case and I will not be buying my own replacement from jenny Wu. If I am forced into paying for a replacement, I will get it from another source. I will be making a video and posting it on my U-Tube channel.

      I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I made a video or two about my experiences with warranty claims with Chinese manufacturers including Seplos BMSs. I learned a few things. One is that they often have customers damage their products and claim a warranty. This has lead them to protect themselves by requiring evidence and multiple communications. It requires patience the same as working with health insurance companies here in the US. I was usually successful when I provided video evidence. Did you do that? I have a video about testing the voltage on the balance leads. Have you seen that video and do you have a voltage tester?

      When the BMS did not work on the first kit, I opened the next kit and placed that BMS into the first one. everything worked as it should and is still in operation. I built the next three kits, the second and third kits worked just fine and are still operating perfectly. i installed the first (bad) BMS into the fourth kit and it did the same thing. #9 cell is not recognized. I then placed one of the working BMS in the fourth kit and it worked just fine. in other words, all of the wires and connectors work perfect in all four kits, we just have a bad BMS. I supplied photos and screen shots of the whole procedure, to no avail. They are willing to do what ever it takes to get the sale, after that we are on our own.

      @@stevenfrazier8939 is it possible that the number nine wire has a bad connector? One of my terminals had a bad crimp on one of the wires that I assembled. My testing showed the problem. It wasn’t the BMS, it was the terminal that I put on the end of the wire. When you swapped out the BMS, did you use the same wiring harness or did you just change out the BMS? I would continue to provide what they are asking for. That is what I have found to work. Did you watch my video about warranty with Chinese companies? There is one about Seplos and another about a Ruiden power supply. Just be kind in your communications and you will have good results.

      When the BMS was not working I used all the same wire harness and just changed out the BMS. by the way, after installing it into the fourth kit, the BMS does not read #8 & #9. I have been in the computer industry since 1990. I started SDF Computer that year. I have built and tested hundreds of components over the last 34 years. I know what I am doing. I started working with computers and software in 1978. My dad helped develop and install the early warning radar defense system in the early 1960's and he instilled in me a desire for electronics. I have not watched your video on this topic. You see for me it is not about the money nut rather integrity. I am just going to buy a replacement and one as a backup from a different sales outlet and give this over to God and his judgment. This is one of the pitfalls of working with communist based company's

    Speaking about compression, i have two 48v lifepo4 in parallel with no compression and i see no difference at all. I dont know how compression will help at all so i dont follow that trend. Its been a month since your last upload, where you been sir

      What I do with my batteries is restrain their movement. I don’t care about compressions so much as I do not letting them move when they expand in contract from charge cycles. The reason I do this is because I don’t want that movement to put force into the terminals which can damage the cells. For that same reason I don’t unbolt the restraint until I’ve loosened the terminal nuts. When I build the battery, I restrain the cells movement then I tighten down the terminal nuts. I hope that makes sense. Currently I’m working on our horse trailer that has a living quarters. I’ve transitioned the 12 V house battery to lithium iron phosphate and I’m now in the process of installing a 48 battery with a all-in-one inverter. Hope to have that completed and make a video about it pretty soon. Seems like there’s always things that get in the way though.

    just bought my first 16 cells from Jennywu today easy transaction the cells i got are in US warehouse so should be here in7-10 days guess i need to get to building a box Thanks Ray I did give her your info so you should see a commission. This is my way of thanking you for the work you put into making the videos for us to learn from. keep up the good work. hope the ankle gets better I broke mine and ended up having 4 surgeries to get it fixed ended up having a fusion due to traumatic arthritis that was over ten years ago been going strong.

It is going to be the process I’m going through to convert the living quarters of our horse trailer to operate on one of these batteries so that I don’t have to run the generator when I’m away from power.     What is the size and pitch of the bolts you are using to attach the bus bars to the battery? I think you will find that the clamping force is far higher than you realize and more than enough to remove the slight bend in the bars.

      I wish it was so. I test the resistance from terminal to terminal. If the resistance is high then I look at the bus bars. Sometimes I have to slightly straighten them. The resistance then comes down to normal. There may be a strong force but it is at a mechanical and leverage disadvantage. If I could tighten them enough, it would indeed force them into compliance but I am limited to 6Nm which isn’t a lot.

      Several times I have discussed why I restrain the battery cells. These cells expand when they are charged, and if we fail to restrain that expansion, they will grow over time. The manufacturer recommends compressing these cells in order to increase their cycle life. The larger problem that I see with allowing them to expand uncontrolled, is that if they are allowed to expand the only thing that will be restraining, that will be the bus bars. I don’t want the bus bars to put force onto the terminals which can cause damage to the cells where they connect to the terminals. Flexible bus bars will not help with this unless you go all the way to using wire cabling instead of busbars. Far better approach that has been proven out time and again by multiple users of the technology is simply restrain the cells so that they can’t continue to grow overtime. Other RUclipsrs have experimented with letting them act on their own, but they all come back around to restraining the cells what I do with my cell I have described several times as simply giving them restraint at a level of a warm hug from your mother. Just enough to keep them from growing without actually squeezing them. I use one Newton meter of force on the nuts.

      @@RayBuildsCoolStuff Okay that makes sense, it's more about not damaging the cell internals due to terminal strain than worrying about if the cells will expand uncontrollably. On the CATL 280Ah spec sheet I have they say to restrain for at least the first 6 months or 180 cycles.

    I bought 4 Apexium DIY battery kits with the JK Inverter BMS PB2A16S20P. The first one I built had a bad BMS right out of the Box and it looks like Jkung is not going to replace it. 34 days have gone by without a commitment to replace it. This is not good after sales support.

      That would be nice. I am at a loss for a solution. We have a $1,734 battery that is unusable without a BMS. Jenny has been very helpful getting all of the equipment. I just wish the after the sale support was better. I have two more big projects in the works, but I am second thinking how I get the equipment.

    Hi Ray, I have to locate my batteries in my unheated garage and I live in Pennsylvania. Do you have any knowledge of options for installing internal heating in these cases for those few days when my internal garage temperature might dip below 32 degrees F? I'm willing to insulate the outside of the case, but I'd like to avoid having build another temperature controlled enclosure to encase 3 of these batteries, while accommodating wiring, etc. I understand that any heating would likely use some of the battery charge if both solar and grid were down. THANK you in advance for any guidance here! How are your horses doing??

      Hi I think in this situation I would build some five sided boxes out of 2 inch polyisocyanurate foam. Just join the boxes together and put them over the battery boxes. If you left them like that all winter, the internal temperature would likely stay fine without any heating needed. The BMS will tell you if you get close and then you might have to put a little heating element in but you might avoid that altogether.

    There has to be a black LIST for these kind of people. In my case the company was Taico power co. and the seller was Nora. Like you said the cells failed to give the given capacities and they were used type pouch cells. People should be aware that no form of payment is safe with these crooks.     Hi Ray, Jenny confirmed that the MB30 is out of stock and production won't resume until October. I was going to go for that model in order to stay as close as possible to the first battery's capacity which is 304Ah. I'm not so sure about the MB31, I'm wondering if they are trying to push it more than it can stand. before I order I would like your view on this since you've had them on the test bench and also about having different capacity batteries in parallel. Thanks again for all your precious info🙏

      Hi Mauro I would use the MB 31s without any hesitation. Part of my thinking is that the way we use the cells is so far below the demands of the EV industry that we really will never push them in anyway that tests their abilities. They seem to be great cells . On the subject of connecting batteries of different capacity in parallel, that is simply not an issue. You can parallel a 100 amp battery with a 300 amp power battery without any concern at all. The use of the batteries in that situation will be balanced by their voltages. As one batteries voltage goes down the other battery will have more pressure to contribute to the system, and they will keep themselves relatively balanced based on their internal resistance and their voltage. I have tested this.

    I just purchased a box and 16 cells from Jenny. This was my first battery build and if I were more careful things would have gone great. A few small issues during the build but it came together. I dealing with a broken LCD screen with Jenny now but I am confident she will get it resolved. The battery settings recommendations would be great for beginners like me because I have no clue how to top balance a battery like this or if it needs it. What should the voltage be on your first charge? What other settings should be adjusted before I connect it to my inverter charger device?

      Hi Sam The settings in the unit will work and as you learn more you may decide to make adjustments but many people don’t. I have videos about top balancing but that should be done prior to assembly. One thing you can do is get a power supply and top up individual cells to get them closer. You will want to get the battery charged until there are cells in the 3.5v range. Some will be lower. You can top these up individually. Set the power supply to 3.65 volts, connect it across an individual cell that measures below the rest and watch. Let the cell get a bit above the others (maybe 3.520v) because the voltage will settle back a bit after the power supply is removed. This may take a long time depending on the variation in the state of charge. If you need to leave it unattended then disconnect the power supply, adjust the setting to 3.55 volts and reconnect so you don’t overcharge the cell. This is not failsafe as the cheap power supplies can fail so don’t leave home with it running, just to be on the safe side. I should probably do a video on this method.

      If you are asking about this solar generator, it cost 1200$ I later built another add on for 4kwh additional capacity for an additional 700$ that is shown in another video.

    great channel i discovered it over my off grid transformation that in starting so I want to put together a 9,000 amp battery from 30 lifep04 300amp cells but I dont know what system to use to mange this high of capacity of a battery because all the bmss that I've found are not capable of managing a function of the amount of the capacity thet this battery can hold i would love to get your take on that

      I’m glad you discovered my channel. There are some basic concepts of electricity that will need to be understood in order for this to make sense. While I can’t give a thorough explanation here I will say that when you put together cells into a battery in series, you will add the voltages, but not the amperage When we build a 48 V battery we use 16 cells. Their nominal voltage is 3.2 V so that gives you a 51.2 nominal voltage battery. If the cells are rated at 300 A you will have a 300 amp battery. if you build two of these batteries from 32 cells and put those two batteries together in parallel, you will have an array that is still 51.2 V but will now be a combined 600 A. The individual batteries themselves are still only 300 A. if you were to put 30 cells together in parallel, you would have a 9000 amp hour battery at 3.2 V. In your situation, I would recommend buying 32 batteries cells and putting them together into two batteries, each with its own BMS. I won’t go further in my explanation here, but please watch mine and other videos to understand this. Also do a search for wiring fundamentals. Learn about the mathematics of amperage voltage and resistance in an electrical circuit. Best wishes.

      @@idolumerman For 16 cells in series I use a Seplos 200 amp BMS. If however, you are for some reason talking about 30 cells in parallel then you do not need a BMS. I’m not sure what a 3.2 V battery would be good for though.

    Been scratching my head for 3-4 days now, I need to find batteries for 48v 55vish max e-bike that are solar charged and I need range. The issue is I got ripped off 3 times over the last year buying batteries from China and I'm on disability and can't afford anything now. I currently have an e-bike that ride 10min maybe 7km max :(. My 48v lithium packs rated at 30Ah (false rating) get 7km (6lbs), If I put a 36v bank of lead acid 12v 18Ah I get 14km before I hit the 36v cut off (30lbs). How do I get more range on a 36v lead acid 18Ah bank over a 48v 30Ah lithium pack lol it's a 48v e-bike.

    I've had a pretty good relationship with Zhoulum from jakiper batteries or orient power. I looked at buying cells and building batteries but I went down the rack mount route. I have 4 100ah batteries and will be getting another 4 or 6. I just took delivery of a growatt 12kw transformer inverter and victron RS 450/100 charge controller. To start with. Upgrade from MPP pip 5648-mt

    I bought 48 LF280K cells with the double terminals, 4 48v boxes and 4 JK Inverter BMS from Amy Wan. The cells were pristine and the double terminals are simply the best. I will never buy a single post terminal ever again. They all tested in the 300+ ah range.

    Great video. Why do you think this assembly won't be able to dry? Fiber faced polyiso is very low perm, likely less than 1 at that thickness, but by using an air barrier, not a vapor barrier on the roof deck and under the standing seam roof, don't you think the assembly would be safer for light moisture intrusion than using peel and stick vapor barrier membranes? People say you can't dry through the metal roof, but I doubt snap lock metal roofs are air/vapor barriers at the crimps and should allow light wetting to evaporate out. So although the drying potential is low, it's better than zero by using class 1 vapor barriers under the roof and above the roof deck

      It’s a good thought but I think in reality the drying would be too slow to really prevent rotting. Best to be perfect at keeping it out as difficult as that is.
